You can now easily customize your existing data using Data Management. You can access it here.

✏️ Customize existing attributes and events

Attributes and events are often defined with technical names making it difficult for CSM to understand their meaning. You can now change the way there are displayed in Salesmachine by changing the Display name and add a description!

In the application, attributes will be named using their display name and the description will show up on a tooltip when you hover the name of the attribute.

Updating attribute type

Sometimes, you need to change the type of an existing attribute (ex: switch a text-based attribute to a numeric attribute). This action is changing the type of the attribute (the expected value) but it doesn't transform the existing values of this attribute set in contacts/accounts. It means that when you change an attribute type from text to number for example, you need to re-update all text values to numeric values. Otherwise, Salesmachine won't take in consideration values with the wrong types.

🆕 Create new custom attributes

Need new custom attributes? Create easily new ones using our Data Management.

Choose a key

The key will be the unique identifier of the attribute. You can use this key to update the attribute automatically through the API, Segment or Zapier.

Choose a type

You can choose between different type of attributes:

Text: expect a text value (string)
Picklist: select a value from a list of predefined values (string)
Number: expect a numeric value (int, float)
Date: expect a date value (timestamp)
True/False: select between true or false.

By default, all new attributes values are set to undefined (match the conditions attribute is not set).

Choose if editable or not

Decide to prevent Salesmachine users to update the attribute values manually in the application.

Add a display name and description (optional)

In the application, attributes will be named using their display name instead of the key when it exists and the description will show up on a tooltip when you hover the name of the attribute.

🔒 Manage read & write access

Some attributes updated automatically by the API or external services can be sensitive, you can now prevent Salesmachine users to update them manually by updating the settings Editable to No.

🗑 Archive depreciated attributes and events

Sometimes, you decide to stop sending some attributes and events for multiple reasons. To avoid seeing these depreciated data in Salesmachine, you can now archive them.

Important: If an attributes or an event is tracked after you've archived it, it will be re-appear instantly in the data management and the application. You have to make sure to stop sending the attribute or event if you don't want to see it on Salesmachine.
